
Phosphate Binder Tablets
Polymeric phosphate adsorber in tablet form for water volumes up to 45,000 liters as a replacement filling for the hose dispenser
For pond systems up to 45 m³ water volume, the tablets can be used for sustainable phosphate reduction in the pond. For this purpose, the tablets must be placed in a well- flowed area (e.g., waterfall or stream). Scope of delivery: Filter tablets including net.
Phosphates can enter pond water in many ways. Very often, even tap water is enriched, so that refills to compensate for evaporation or after pond vacuuming can lead to new algae growth.
The American company Applied Polymer Systems Inc. has developed a phosphate binder that requires flow to work. It is therefore ideally suited for treating refill water.
Our own tests have shown that the phosphate binder tablets require a reaction time. Immediately after passing through, a slight phosphate drop of approx. 10% can be measured. After one day, the phosphate value of the filled water was below the photometer's detection limit (0.01 mg/l) – it should be noted that this was under laboratory conditions. The company APS states an average reduction between 75–85%, which seems realistic to us as an average value in the field. In the field, external influences cannot be limited, so the results may vary. The own test in the pond led to a significant reduction in the phosphate value.
The tablets have a rubbery consistency. The polymers dissolve in the water flow and bind the phosphate molecules in a type of flocculation reaction. The tablets can be dried and stored after use until they are depleted.
