Phosphate Binder Block (Polymer)

Polymeric phosphate binder for use in flowing pond areas or filter systems. Durable with high efficiency. Non-toxic.

A new development from the USA. Same material as the phosphate binder tablets. A non-toxic polymeric phosphate binder, ideal for preventing string algae in case of excessive phosphate levels in pond water. The effect is achieved by the binding of phosphates and nitrates to released polymers. These bindings are largely irreversible. This deprives the algae of their nutrient base and prevents excessive algae growth. To ensure sufficient release of the polymer molecules, good water flow is necessary.

The entire block is sufficient for ponds up to 400,000 liters of water.

Half a block is sufficient for ponds up to 200,000 liters of water. These are guide values that refer to normal phosphate loads. In case of doubt, the larger version should be chosen.

The material has been subjected to various toxicological tests by the manufacturer and classified as harmless. It is not an algicide but works purely on the basis of nutrient binding. Therefore, direct algae extermination is not to be expected. The aim is to worsen the living conditions of the algae through nutrient scarcity, in order to achieve medium- to long-term success in algae control. According to independent studies, a phosphate binding of up to 85% is achieved.

With low flow, a block lasts about one season until it has completely dissolved. The stronger the flow, the faster the block dissolves. Detached fibers continue to act elsewhere until the material has completely dissolved. Residual amounts of the block can be dried and stored at the end of the season.

The block comes in a filter bag.
