WM FreshUP pool and pond cleaner

WM FreshUP WaterMineral is the perfect and versatile care product.
for biologically treated bathing waters.

WM FreshUP

  • Binds phosphates, sulfates and heavy metals
  • neutralizes odors and regulates pH levels
  • removes the end-product inhibition for biodegradation
from organic material by binding excess carbon dioxide
  • Regular use prevents acidification caused by calcium deficiency.
  • It also improves the oxygen supply in gravel beds.

Detailed description

Surface treatment:

All horizontal surfaces, be it stairs in the entry area, the pool floor or gravel beds, can be treated by spreading WM FreshUP over the entire surface.

The poorly soluble powder oxidizes deposits in the direct contact area.

Firmly adhering deposits will loosen a few hours after application and can easily be swept away or picked up by a pond robot.

In open water, the oxidizing effect is practically non-existent, therefore there is no impact on plankton organisms or filter biology. WM FreshUP can thus be used without problems during bathing and filter operation (unlike hydrogen peroxide and similar, highly water-soluble peroxides). However, direct skin contact should be avoided.

Direct treatment of vertical surfaces (walls) is not possible, as the powder sinks and has no long-range effect. However, an indirect reduction of deposits on walls is possible, since the application of FreshUP binds excess phosphates and also optimizes the pH value.

Treatment of gravel surfaces:

Especially in older, more natural-looking pools, gravel beds pose problems: Organic material settles on the gravel surfaces and also in the spaces between the gravel. This material accumulates over months and years, and during the peak swimming season, when the water has warmed up, the microorganisms in these sediments become active and break down this organic material. If the gravel is not permeated by water flow, these decomposition processes lead to oxygen depletion in the gravel beds. The subsequent anaerobic decomposition results in the massive release of nutrients, which lead to the growth of algae or thick, slimy coatings on the gravel. Anaerobic decomposition can even produce hydrogen sulfide and methane gas.

WM FreshUP can be used to oxidize the organic material accumulated in the spaces between gravel beds within a few hours, simultaneously binding the phosphate released in the process. The organic matter is then degraded, and the phosphate is bound as insoluble apatite (calcium phosphate). WM FreshUP also counteracts oxygen depletion and, through excess oxygen, raises the redox potential, thus preventing the release of phosphates contained within the rock itself.

For this reason, gravel areas where the phosphate content of the material used is known should be treated regularly with WM FreshUP during the bathing season.

Treatment of gravel filters:

The formation of biofilm in a gravel filter is generally desirable, and a gravel filter functions smoothly as long as the water flow is uniform. If the flow becomes inhomogeneous due to sediment deposits or uneven biofilm growth, localized oxygen depletion occurs. This leads to the release of phosphates from these areas and the growth of filamentous algae throughout the filter.

Nitrite formation due to the mixing of oxygen-rich (aerobic) water and oxygen-free (anaerobic) water from these areas leads to stunted growth and pest infestation of the marsh plants (e.g. aphids) and eventually to the death of the filter vegetation (Typical sign: the plants in the filter are smaller than the same species outside the filter zone).

Anaerobic areas in the pond can also lead to an increase in germs such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which can cause pneumonia in humans, among other things.

Dead plant roots, which impair the even distribution of water in the filter, can be removed by using WM FreshUP in a timely manner. However, if the pipe is already blocked, WM FreshUP can no longer be delivered via the pipe system.

By using WM FreshUP to eliminate anaerobic nests from the biofilter, you reduce or prevent:

– Filae formation,
– Nitrite formation, stunted growth and pest infestation of the plants,
– as well as foci of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

At the same time, restoring the uniform airflow increases:

– the filter performance
– and plant growth in the filter zone.

However, a prerequisite for sustainable filter remediation is that a uniform flow rate can be restored by removing organic deposits or biofilm. If the circulation is too low, the distribution too poor, or the resistance of the filter media too variable, then WM FreshUP can only offer limited help. While regular application can reduce symptoms such as algae growth and heavy deposit formation, in such cases, a structural remediation is the long-term goal.

Treatment of refill water in cisterns and heavy metal precipitation:

Water in cisterns or other containers can be treated with WM FreshUP for use as top-up water . This process breaks down organic matter, binds copper (e.g., from copper gutters or runoff from neighboring vineyards) and phosphates, and raises the pH level and improves oxygenation in the cistern.

Notes:

  • Please observe the instructions for proper use on the packaging units, especially the safety instructions.
  • To prevent damage, avoid direct contact between WM FreshUP and plants or animals.
  • WM FreshUP should only be used at water temperatures above 18 °C, as no active oxygen is released at lower temperatures.
  • Store in a dry and cool place, up to room temperature.
  • Once opened, the can should be consumed as soon as possible.

WM FreshUP

  • It contains no algicides (no copper, no herbicides), it works through active oxygen, also stabilizes the pH value and binds phosphates.
  • It is used for water treatment, especially in biologically treated bathing waters.
  • Contains no sodium and is therefore suitable for all systems using natural or artificial zeolite.
  • Replaces all other pond care products with improved effectiveness and lower consumption.
